The Tabernacle Baptist Church is an Independent Baptist Church located in Altus, Oklahoma; in the southwest corner of the state that is just one hour west of Lawton. Altus is the home to Altus Air Force Base and our membership reflects the diversity of cultures by having members who have traveled the world but also members that have chosen to make Oklahoma their home for life. This has given our church a greater understanding of world missions and the importance of having a burden to reach the lost for Christ in their own communities. Tabernacle is easily accessible from highway 62 (east-west) and from highway 283 (north-south) . Our church facilities are located on a 3-acre campus in the heart of Altus; just west of the main post office. Tabernacle is rich in tradition and has a history and reputation of being a church that loves world-wide missions by supporting over 70 missionaries and giving over $75,000.00 each year to faith-promise mission projects. Our desire for the near future is to begin an Indigenous Independant Spanish Baptist Church in Altus.  The name of the church will be IGLESIA BAUTISTA TABERNACULO (Tabernacle Baptist Church).

There are more than 15,000 independent Baptist churches in America and at least 10,000 independent Baptist missionaries serving on mission fields worldwide.

Every independent Baptist church is an autonomous congregation. We are self-governing and self-supporting. The head of the church is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible is our sole authority for faith and practice. It is our desire to be a truly New Testament church.

At the Tabernacle Baptist Church, though we have one message-the message of the Lord Jesus Christ, and one ministry-the ministry He has given us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, our church is also involved in many ministries that are effectivly reaching out into our community and the surrounding towns of our area. Some of the many servant ministries our church offers are the Bus, Children, Youth, Backyard Club, Character First, Love on Wheels, Senior Saints, Retirement Home, Ambassadors in Blue,  Visitation, Soulwinning, and 1st Step Discipleship classes. Every ministry is for the benefit of each member, as well as for the reaching of the lost and training christians for the work of the ministry.
